GorillaMaker takes a Bite out of the Big Apple!

Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth—a family-friendly festival of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement.

Here at GorillaMaker we are so excited to be a part of this year's World Maker Faire in Queens, New York, September 26th and 27th. What is the Maker Faire? Well, it's part science fair and part county fair with a whole lot of ingenuity and creativity to wow the whole family.

It all started back in 2005 with the launch of MAKE Magazine which created a platform to connect hobbyists, engineers, professionals and other tech-minded DIY-ers with each other, with suppliers and vendors as well. It snowballed into the Maker Movement and the first Maker Faire was held in San Francisco back in 2006. Since then Maker Faires have popped up all over the country and people from all walks of life come to show their creations, share what they have learned and celebrate the creative spirit.

It is a fabulous family-friendly event that GorillaMaker will be whipping up some pretty cool stuff at. Come get your head scanned! We know Maker Faire isn't all about 3D printing but that won't stop us from unleashing our awesome tech! So pack up the kids, grandpa, your friends and neighbors and come say hello!! We can't wait to meet you!

GorillaMaker Unleashed in Cincinnati!

We are super excited to be a part of this year's Mini Maker Faire! We hope that you will come and visit us to see our fabulous 3D printer as well as all of the fun and fascinating things we have cooked up for this event. Of course, we understand it's not all about 3D printing and there will be tons of other things to see, but we can't help but be a little biased.

This is the third year for the Cincinnati Mini Maker Faire and although it's a scaled down version of the epic events created by Make Magazine, there will be no shortage of amazing creations, inventions, gadgets and gizmos that the whole family can marvel over.  So grab the kids and stop by and say hi! We look forward to seeing you there Saturday and Sunday August 29 and 30, 2015.

This event is FREE with an All Museums Pass to Cincinnati Museum Center or with a Museum Center membership. Tickets are available in advance online or by phone at and at the door.

Christmas Sugar Cookies

Cookie Cutters - Candy Cane & Gingerbread Man

How about this for homemade cookies from start to finish: print your own cookie cutters, make and bake sugar cookies, then frost and decorate the delectable treats!  That's exactly what we did at GorillaMaker headquarters.

Cookie Cutters - Christmas Stocking

Our team knows that it's not good enough to just get a good 3-D print. In this case, your printed cookie cutters also have to produce a great finished product.  Otherwise, what's the point?

Baked Cookie Trio

Veteran baker and GorillaMaker staffer, Christine Luken, road tested the cookie cutters during her annual Christmas cookie baking marathon.  Here's her verdict: "The stocking and the gingerbread man turned out great.  The cookie cutters left a nice crisp design on the cookies, so you have the option to frost them or not.  The candy cane cutter was problematic because the grooves for the imprint were too deep.  Several times the dough stuck to the cutter despite heavy flouring.  The resulting candy cane cookie was thinner than the others, so it came out over baked."

Frosted Stocking

So, a big thumbs up for the gingerbread man and stocking 3-D printed cookie cutters and a thumbs down for the candy cane.  If you'd like Christine's Famous Christmas Sugar Cookie recipe, you can find it HERE.
